2024 Blake’s Prairie Jr. Fair General Derby Rules
All rules MUST be followed or you will not run!
- If not in the rules saying you can modify or alter a part of the vehicle it must be STOCK and unaltered.
- Registration and inspection will close 1 hour before start time. There is a $50.00 late fee for anyone that arrives late. If officials are available to inspect you.
- All vehicles MUST be inspected before they can run.
- Anyone under the age of 18 needs a parent release and notary stamp. Notary MUST be filled out before the event. Everyone MUST have a form of ID. We will not have a notary on the fairgrounds.
- All hoods must be open for inspection. Trunks need to be open or have inspection hole.
- Driver’s fee: $50.00
- Pit Pass: $20.00
- All drivers and pit members will be required to have a wrist band. If you are not wearing the wrist band you will be asked to leave the pit area. No one under 18 is allowed in pit area unless you are the driver.
- All drivers must wear shirt, pants, and boots or shoes. Seat belts and helmets are required. Neck collars are optional.
- All drivers and pit members must attend the drivers meeting.
- No hot rodding in pits – No Ruts
- No trash left in pits. Anything that came with you leaves with you.
- No sandbagging or holding! No driver’s door hits.
- Fires are one and done.
- No one is allowed on the track except for drivers and authorized personnel. NO PIT MEMBERS
- NO ALCOHOL IN PITS!
- OFFICIAL'S DECISION IS FINAL!

- Exterior: All plastic, glass, and breakable parts on exterior of vehicle must be removed.
- Interior: Must be free of debris. No loose objects permitted in vehicle.
- Windows and Glass: All windows and glass parts must be removed. 2 straps or chains must be used from roof to firewall. If you choose you may use a driver’s door window net.
- Paint/Roof Flap: Vehicles can be decorated however you choose with no obscenities or profanity. Driver’s door must be a contrasting color from the rest of the vehicle. (Ex: Black car, white driver’s door) Vehicle number must be on driver’s door, passenger door, and roof flap and must be of contrasting color from door/car color. All vehicles must have a 12” x 12” roof flap that has vehicle number on both sides.
- Bumpers: Both front and rear bumpers must be chained. Chains NOT to exceed 36”. Chains maybe welded or bolted to bumper and frame. Hardnosed step ups allowed on front bumper only. Rear bumper must be stock or nothing. All trailer hitches must be removed. All bumper brackets maybe welded. Impact bumpers maybe pushed in and welded. On front bumper only you may use up to an 18 square inch max rectangular or round tubing with ¼ inch max wall thickness. Not to exceed the width of vehicle. All bumpers must be open on ends to ensure they are not stuffed or loaded.
- Battery: Must be moved to passenger area to the right of the driver. Must be secured down tightly and covered. Brackets and boxes maybe fabricated and welded or bolted in.
- Gas Tank: Must be moved behind driver and toward center of vehicle and securely fastened. Gas tank must be covered. Must not contain more than 5 gallons of gas. Brackets maybe fabricated and bolted or welded to vehicle. No fuel leaks. No plastic tanks allowed
- Doors: Drivers door may be welded shut. 3/8 diameter max filler rod only. All other doors must be chained Chains not to exceed 36”. One chain per door.
- Safety Bars: Behind driver a bar maybe mounted from B post to B post. Second bar maybe mounted from A post to A post, where dash once was. If both A post and B post bars used may connect bars on each side with 3rd and 4th bars. All safety bars must not exceed 16 square inches and no smaller than 4 square inches. All safety bars must be chained for safety.
- Hoods: Must have two 6 inch holes in hood to extinguish flames in engine compartment. Hood maybe fastened in 6 places with chains, wires, or threaded rods. 1” max rod size. 2 threaded rods may go through radiator support and be welded to frame. Threaded rod plate not to exceed 5” by 5”. Max 3 nuts per rod. Hood brackets allowed, maybe welded or bolted on 2” by 2” angle and 2” long max. All hood springs and latches must be removed.
- Trunks: 2 threaded rods and 2 chains maybe used to secure truck lid. 2 threaded rods maybe welded to the frame.
- Tires: Tires determined to be unsafe are rejected. Wheel weights must be removed. Valve stem protectors allowed. Tires must contain air/no solid tires. Tires must be factory size to maintain bumper height.
- Radiators/Coolers: Radiator must be in stock location. Must contain only water. May use AC condensers for radiator protectors. Fabricated radiators allowed. Transmission coolers allowed. Must be securely fastened and covered.
- Suspension: Suspension can be fixed to maintain a max bumper height of 18” from ground to bottom of bumper.
- Frame/Body: Speaker decks and trucks may be smashed down but it done must cut holes to inspect inside trunk.
- Engine/Transmission/Drivetrain: 4 or 6 cylinder engines only. Does not have to be stock but must be in stock location. Motor mounts maybe welded. No engine protectors allowed.
- Shifters: Aftermarket/fabricated shifters allowed.

- Frame/Body: No tilting, pinning or stuffing of frames. No welding on frame seams. May use two 4x6x1/4" thick plates to patch/strengthen frames.
- Body Mounts: Rubber mounts can be removed. Stock sized bolts only. Body mount holes on bottom of frame must be open to inspect frame
- Engine/Transmission/Drivetrain: Does not have to be stock but must be in stock location. Motor mounts maybe welded. No engine protectors allowed. Rear end must be a CAR rear end/stock.
- Shifters: Aftermarket/fabricated shifters allowed.

- Doors-Hatches, Tailgates: All doors, hatches, and tailgates maybe welded. If not welded, FOUR chains per door-hatch and tailgate. Trucks can weld box to cab. 3” wide max. Filler rod not to exceed 3/8 inch diameter.
- Safety Bars: Behind driver a bar maybe mounted from B post to B post. Second bar maybe mounted from A post to A post, where dash once was. If both A post and B post bars used may connect bars on each side with 3rd and 4th bars. All safety bars must not exceed 16 square inches and no smaller than 4 square inches. - Suspension: Can be fixed to maintain a maximum bumper height of 25” from ground to bottom of bumper.
- Frames/Body: No welding on frames! No pre bending of body or frame. Sides of box must remain upright and tailgate must be in factory location. No flat beds, wood floors, or fifth wheel plates. Frame and body must match NO frankentrucks.
- Body Mounts: Rubber mounts can be removed. Stock size bolts only. Can add 2 mounts to truck cab.
- Engine/Transmission/Drivetrain: Engine/transmission does not have to be stock, but must be in stock location. Motor mounts may be welded. No engine protectors allowed. Four wheel drive vehicles MUST remove one driveshaft making it 2 wheel drive.
- Shifters: Aftermarket/fabricated shifter allowed.
(I.E. explorers, rangers, s10, blazers. Vehicles must be 4 or 5 lug to qualify for this class)

- Transmission and drivetrain: Must be for that vehicle. Four wheel drive vehicles must remove 1 driveshaft making it 2 wheel drive.
Drivers Under 18
The following notary form is required for any drivers under the age of 18. In order for them to participate they need to have this form notarized BEFORE the derby.
